Caribbean stud strategy
The house edge for Caribbean Stud lies around 2.6% with the correct
strategy. This makes Caribbean Stud comparable to the house edge
for allot of other casino games, not the best bet you can find in
a casino but definitely not the worst bet either.
There are only three player decisions to make in Caribbean Stud.
The first is how much to bet. The second is deciding whether to
raise or fold after seeing the dealers up card. And the third is
whether to take the progressive jackpot side bet or not.
There are millions of different possible hand combinations in Caribbean
Stud, but thankfully there is no need to memorize all of them. Instead
of memorizing all the hand combinations it is possible to sum them
all up in three basic strategy plays, as follows:
- The player should fold on anything less than an Ace/King hand.
- If the player has an Ace/King hand it is correct to raise if
the dealers up card is matched by one of the players other three
cards, otherwise fold. Example: the player has A, K, 5, 9, Q now
if the dealer up card is a 5, 9 or Queen it is correct to raise,
otherwise fold.
- The player should always raise if he has at least a pair.
The Progressive side bet
If there is a side bet for a progressive jackpot, you should know
that it has a high house advantage. The pot has to reach levels
of up to 150,000 - 200,000 dollars before it starts to break even.
Caribbean Stud Strategy tips
- Stick to the three strategy plays.
- Keep track of the table limits so that you do not overbet, make
sure that if you get Royal Flush the payout will be within the
table limits.
- Avoid the Progressive side bet unless it reaches really high
levels.
